The area is blessed with diverse landscapes of hills, waterfalls, ardent valleys and lush evergreen forests. The habitat diversity in the sanctuary supports myriad life-forms of some interesting flora and fauna. Since it is a recently declared sanctuary it is indispensable to assess the existing biodiversity of the same to have the proper conservation strategies and forest management practices. Further the myriad life forms and landscape diversity attracts number of naturalists, nature enthusiasts, wildlife photographers, educational and research institutes, universities, tourist to enjoy and explore this area. Despite of its biodiversity potential there is hardly any scientific document or a field guide to aimed for both amateurs and specialists. The present photographic document will certainly fulfil this lacuna.

OUR OBJECTIVES

Considering this it is necessary to ascertain the biodiversity of the sanctuary & surroundings with major objectives such as: Assessment Floristics and faunistic diversity of TWLS and its surroundings

  •  Documentation of Rare, Endangered, Threatened and Endemic species of TWLS
  •  To assess various threats (biotic and abiotic) to TWLS and suggesting the appropriate conservation measures. Which will help in management practices of the sanctuary.
  • Assessing habitat diversity
  • Unravelling various secrets of Mother Nature especially unique plant-animal interactions

OUR MISSION

To explore the Western Ghats and their underlying ecosystem through geological and biological research, and to enable access to these resources for anyone who might share our curiosity.
